Your cat can win the following awards when your cat compete with other ones. (condition: there are enough pets to compete)
Best in Colour / Best in Variety / Best in Breed / Best in race:
condition: minimum 3 or 5 cats have to compete with each other first round: The judges nominate for race or color of the cat. second round: The nominated cats come on stage as a group- the judges decide together who the winner is. Dominating cat races are divided into by their haircolor. So a nomination is given to the cats with the best hair. Rare cat races are not divided. They compete in one big group and there is only one winner.
Best in Show:
All cats compete with each other. They are divided into their hair type, as well as age, gender and potency.
Best of Best:
All winners of the title "Best in Show" compete with each other in their race.
Best over all:
All winners of the title "Best of Best" compete with each other. The winner is the best cat at the exhibition and the best cat of the day.
Conditions and execution of the awards can vary between different associations. e.g.: the number of contestants to the number of categories. Maine Coons and Norwegian Forest Cats do often compete in their own hair category while Siam/ OHK and their relatives have most of the time a category on their own if there are enough animals to compete.
All winners receive a certification or a annotation in the judges' report and a trophy. The size of the trophy represents the importance of the award.
Special Shows have always a separate competition for certain races also named "Best in Show"
Every judge can nominate one of his rated cat for one of the different categories. He is also allowed to nominate the same cat for more than one category for instance "Best Variety" and "Best in Show". All nominated cats are presented together in front of the judges. The judges must have a legal judge license for the correspondent race for decision making. If there is only one cat nominated than all the other judges have to confess this nomination.
